CBD is growing in popularity across the UK, buoyed by a bevy of famous faces.
Cannabidiol – more commonly known as CBD – is an active ingredient in cannabis derived from the hemp plant that has boomed in both the medical and beauty industries in recent years.
Initially used to treat the like of insomnia, anxiety and chronic paid, the cannabinoid is now popping up in salons the world over for its soothing and hydrating effects on the skin.
Endorsed by the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus, CBD has proved to be a hit with the stars – so Daily Star Online decided to test the treatment out first hand.
We headed to plush West London salon Blush+Blow for a CBD Detox Microdermabrasion facial.
The treatment started with a double cleanse to ensure a clean base and deal with daily pollution and grime.
Next, the microdermabrasion was performed. This uses tiny crystals to exfoliate the skin, before suction is applied to removed any impurities or debris.
By removing the dead outer layer of the skin, the process reveals the fresher, brighter skin underneath – and suffice to say we have never felt so glowing.
Think of it as a spring clean for your pores – and no, it’s not the same as whacking on a face mask at home and binging your favourite Netflix show. The device is salon-exclusive.
Finally, we were treated to a lymphatic drainage massage using Kannaway CBD Oil.
This aims to reduce puffiness and water retention in the face, while also hydrating the skin.
The whole experience was so relaxing that we almost fell asleep on the table, so suffice to say this is a great stress-buster.
Our skin looked slightly red immediately after treatment – a normal result of any deep exfoliation, but by the following morning our skin looked better than ever.
Those of you with oily skin may shudder at the though of slathering oil onto your face, but rest assured we suffered no breakouts or irritation whatsoever.
Along with the glow, we also noticed that textual irregularities in our skin – those annoying little bumps – were dramatically reduced.
The effects lasted around a month, but considering the treatment felt so spa-like, we’ll be counting down the days to our next appointment.
