Hair stylists John Fahey and Carly Hamilton are partnering on their first business with the Oct. 8, 2018, opening of Wallace Rae, 1460 E. Cherry St. The salon offers men’s, women’s and children’s haircuts, highlighting, custom hand-painted color, blowouts, gray coverage, facial waxes, scalp and hair treatments, and human hair extensions, Hamilton said. She said they signed a five-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Craig and Joann Hosmer for the 1,500-square-foot former Cameo Salon spot. Startup costs were $90,000, primarily for renovation services by Sechler Remodeling, Rebecca Elliott Interior Design LLC and Signature Woodworks Co. Wallace and Rae are the middle names of the two owners. Each has worked in the hair salon industry for a decade in Springfield as stylists and colorists. Hamilton said three employees staff the Rountree neighborhood shop.

Ozarks Community Health Center-Miles for Smiles
Eight months after purchasing a former Roweton’s Home Center building at 203 E. Broadway St. in Bolivar, Ozarks Community Health Center on Dec. 31, 2018, opened its Miles for Smiles dental clinic in the space. OCHC acquired the Miles for Smiles program, including a mobile and brick-and-mortar dental clinic, from Citizens Memorial Hospital in January 2016. The clinic outgrew its first space in Bolivar at 800 E. Aldrich Rd., Ste. E, that only had four dental operatories on-site, said Scott Crouch, CEO of OCHC. With 24 employees, the 8,500-square-foot new spot has seven operatories and space to add three more. Crouch said startup costs, including the purchase and renovation of the Broadway building, were around $600,000. Miles for Smiles sees patients of all ages and provides teeth cleanings, X-rays, dentures, root canals, crowns, fillings, extractions and sealants.
