Following the recent trend in CBD oil products, Protein Bar & Kitchen will soon begin offering the hemp plant extract as an add-on to its beverages.
Starting April 15, customers will have the option of adding CBD oil, or cannabidiol, as a â€śboostâ€ť to any shake or coffee for an additional $2.99. After the drink is prepared, 30 milligrams of the oil will be added using a calibrated dropper.
CBD oil is used for ailments including inflammation, pain and anxiety. It doesnâ€™t contain THC, the active chemical in marijuana. Illinois is one of 37 states in which CBD oil is legal.
Research has shown CBD oil has â€śgreat promiseâ€ť and is something thatâ€™s appealing to Protein Bar customers, CEO Jeff Drake said in a statement. The FDA has approved a purified form of CBD to treat seizures associated with two rare, severe forms of epilepsy in patients age 2 or older. It is investigating other uses.
