More than 60 people are being laid off from a life insurance company in Franklin.Â
Jackson National Life Insurance Company filed an official WARN notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development last month to notify them of permanent layoffs that will affect 64 employees.Â
The Lansing, Michigan-based company has a location at 300 Innovation Drive in Franklin. It disclosed to the state the layoffs would take place on June 15, July 6 and Aug. 3.
The employees are not represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
The layoff is part of a larger company restructuring that will actually bring more jobs back to the Franklin office in the long run, said external communications director Patrick Rich.
The company decided in February to close its Denver office and consolidate its distribution and marketing teams in the Franklin office, Rich said.Â
“The WARN notice that went out was to announce we’re taking our operations-based positions and moving them to our Lansing, Michigan, headquarters to make room for about 250 jobs coming to the Franklin office,” Rich said.Â
While a number of employees from the Denver office are transferring to Tennessee, the company also expects to hire people in the area once the consolidation is completed later this year.Â
“We’re actually going to be increasing our presence in Franklin from roughly 500 employees to about 700 by the end of 2018,” Rich said.Â
