A football club has agreed to rename its stadium after a cannabis oil company in a sponsorship deal.
Hamilton Academical’s New Douglas Park will be known as the Hope CBD Stadium this season. The Premiership club lost more than £750,000 in a bank scam last year and its previous stadium sponsor, SuperSeal, went bust. The deal will net the club a five-figure payment per season as well as a share of profits from the sale of cannabis-based products.
Critics said that the move would send the wrong signal about cannabis.
