CBD oil is gaining popularity in large cities and can be found anywhere from bakery edibles to spas and vape lounges. Most recently it’s found a home in downtown Owensboro at The Crème and Lure Seafood and Grill in signature drinks and cocktails.
The Crème offers three signature, CBD oil infused drinks – Relax a Latte with CBD, vanilla and cinnamon; Stoned Cold Brew with CBD and cold brew; and Dirty Hippy with CBD, chai and espresso.
The Lure offers four signature, CBD infused cocktails featuring Legal Hippie Full Spectrum CBD oil in the Pineapple Express cocktail and C.B.D. (coconut rum, blueberries, lime and simple syrup.)
The buzz surrounding CBD oil has sparked interest in many seeking new alternatives for pain, anxiety and depression. But that’s not all the wonder oil can help with- acne, aging skin, digestive health and inflammation are just a few other conditions CBD oil can treat.
Heather Phillips, known as the Legal Hippie, is familiar with her share of anxiety and it’s what led her to begin her own research, in hopes to end her use of anxiety medication. Now she and her husband grow hemp plants and Phillips is not only a grower and distributer of CBD oil, but also an educator for CBD benefits and the stigmas that surround the oil.
“CBD is not regulated by the government in any way, so a person can be buying whatever the distributer chooses to put in the bottle,” Phillips said. “My goal is to produce the purest CDB oil. Our product only contains two to three ingredients- CBD whole hemp extract, hemp seed oil and our 500mg bottle contains an additional oil called tigernut, which also has amazing healing properties.”
Being that CDB oil is extracted from cannabis plants, some continue to believe the oil can make one “high.” But CBD is just one of the hundred of compounds in the plant and is far from THC, which is the component in marijuana, making it illegal in most states. CBD oil is legal in all 50 states and Legal Hippie products contain less than 0.3% THC.
Wanting to spread the word about the benefits of CBD oil in the Owensboro community, Phillips has partnered with Wheatgrass Juice Bar to sell CDB products. Phillips approached Ben Skiadis, owner of the Lure and Adam Patterson, owner of the The Crème, to introduce CDB oil in cocktails and coffee drinks. Both were on board once Phillips provided the education and benefits of CBD oil.
“It’s important for Owensboro continue on a path of progression, especially with amount of tourism in the downtown area,” Phillips said. “We are doing something that’s offered anywhere from New York to Louisville. And with more people learning about the benefits of CBD oil and letting go of those stigmas that surround it, we are going to have a happier, healthier and pain-free community.”
Heather Phillips will be hosting an educational, Q&A session for CBD oil at Wheatgrass Juice Bar on October 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. For more information about CDB oil check out legalhippie.com.
